Understanding familial locative play: Exploring parent online social learning to play Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go is a hybrid reality game (HRG) that research suggests played by families in the context of joint-media engagement. Yet, interface itself provides little information about how to approach game. Given this and fact many parents play HRG with their young children, we examine process parent online social learning Go. Drawing on an original study conducted between August November 2019, including Facebook survey non-probabilistic purposive sample, semi-structured interviews range who aim article explore as path optimising in-game performance. In main, found frequency which followed tips provided individuals related inversely well they knew them was differentially linked sources used. We nuance these findings insights from interviews.
